Saturday, June 30th: Whitefish, MT or …Your attention please!

Let me tell you: am I happy to be laying on a bed, instead of being tucked away in the bag. Who am I? I’m Renet’s faithful dog Snoopy. Have been going along with here for many many years now. And guess what: I’m the one who loves telling stories. And since my boss is back on the road in the good old USA, I’ll have some to tell! Time for dogs is a different concept, but I’ll try to adjust to human time.
Getting in the States was no trouble at all – almost. My boss had a chance to earn 1000 dollar and a night at the Brussels airport hotel, if she choose not to fly on Saturday but on Sunday. The temptation was great but she thought about having the Sweet Machine ready… So off we flew with Delta – where the same lady on the tape still waves her finger at us warning us not to smoke during the flight. Atlanta airport brings it troubles. It was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit and some containers with the luggage couldn’t be opened. We waited (with lots of other people) to pick up the backpack and the bicycle. After an hour we were told to go ahead and walk through customs to catch our connecting flight. As the lady spoke the big belt started moving again and there it came: backpack! Around the corner came the monsterbox. Yippie: what a good fortune for us! While we were waiting for our 2nd plane, an alarm went off: “Your attention please – we just received an emergency call. While we are checking on this, we want you to stand by.”… I wanted to go out and help sniff for bombs, but my boss kept me close to her. Whatever it was… not one human soul seemed to be surprised or excited or wondering or afraid… Meanwhile my boss was allowed to board the plane -  she took her seat and tucked her head against the window and rested her eyes for a couple of hours. In Salt Lake City we had to run from one gate to another and barely made it. Now my boss was starting to worry about how to get to Whitefish.... But how wonderful – in the middle of the night a taxi was waiting for us and all our luggage. Another 20 minutes driving and we finally had a chance to lay down and take a deep well deserved nap.
