Friday, July 6th: Going-To-The-Sun road part 2 or … not so today!

I forgot to mention this. Next to the park shuttles a private company tours with red old-fashioned busses. I’ve been calling them “Looser Cruiser” and yeah… I got to sit in one! This time a ride over the top – almost to St. Mary.

This time we had a guide, telling us sooooo much, I can hardly remember anything anymore. I know there are about 300 grizzlies and 800 black bears in the park! I know there are only about 27 glaciers left from the 170 something…We saw our buddies mountain goats again and we also noticed the bear grass: one of my bosses favorite flower which blooms once every 5 year ( are we lucky!). I’ve heard a dozen and more names of glaciers, trees, falls…

We got wet riding next to the weeping wall, since there is still so much snow melt, but most of all… we learned that today wasn’t the day to notice anything special .. “not so today”, was what our driver said many times!
For those who love to watch scary movies: the first movie scenes from "The Shining" (with Jack Nicholson) were shot on the east side of the Continental Divide.

It was a lazy day in the Looser Cruiser and after lunch my boss her eyes were getting heavy: I noticed they almost closed! That sunny feeling was great!

  1. Kan je deze auto niet meebrengen naar Ensor, het is eens wat anders dan de "trouwbus" of de "tjernobylbus", weet je nog?????
