What a wonderful starry night, far away from
city lights! Makes us feel humble again. All right, the human made coffee this
morning. Oatmeal cookies are delicious for breakfast – they have a lot of good
stuff in them. Getting outside the wind blew my ears up and almost away – alas
the wind came from the side where we had to cycle to. But no rush today. At
first, the road inclines to the visitor center of Earthquake Lake. Here we
shoot some pictures. I cannot help it but the lake always gives me a spooky
feeling: people died here during the earthquake of 1959.
It’s a rollercoaster
along the lake: up and down (my woman doesn’t cycle that fast though!) and up
and down and turn… Hey… look there – a cyclist going the same direction as we
do! And we can catch up to him. As my boss passes him, she says hello, but she
doesn’t feel like socializing. So we pedal on –same tempo we did before. But
now, this Green Man (the secret name I gave him for he was cycling in bright
green colors) follows us and tries to catch up with us again. The smart thing
to do was to stop again and let the Green Man pass us again. And so we did. Now
we had to cycle at a slower pace than we usually do. That shouldn’t be a
problem given the nice views of Hebgen Lake. My boss found it a perfect idea to
give Green Man more space – a stop at the campground for a drink was perfect
for me. I love this stop at the lake. After some time we got back on Sweet
Machine. Green Man was nowhere to see! I could feel my boss was happy again …
for a while, ‘cause she took her tempo again and yes on the last stretch to
West Yellowstone, cycling between the pines, Green Man showed up as a pea in
the distance. Once in town we lost track of the Green Man as we head for the
campground. Then I stayed at the
campground while my woman went shopping – I should have gone along since there
was so much stuff for dogs for sale here! For camping dogs, like me!

Tomorrow
we enter a new state. Time again to be bear and bison aware!
I remember this visitor centre and the great road along Earthquake lake!!
