Thursday, August 9th: Circleville, UT or … more severe Sevier

As my boss gets out of bed I watch her how she handles her stiff muscles… not too bad, it seems! A shower and a breakfast of French toast (the first one!) will get her in shape. Six miles further down the road and out of the canyon we reach Marysvale and wave to the Old Pines Inn – I remember this place! Now it’s uphill although it often looks as if we should go down. Green is the color of today – green of the sage and I also notice some cacti along the road. A few purple flowers dot the scenery. And up we go – all the way till we reach the Paiute State Park sign (a reservoir to our left).

up, up and up...

Here my woman can sit back a bit before reaching Junction. (Yes, this is a town). At the gas station my boss fills her water bottle – other drivers are not so lucky since the gas station ran out of gas! There are signs for road work and indeed – close to Circleville a flagman is posted. He tells me I can go on. The middle of the road has a black stripe, while the rest of the surface is filled with gravel – I do not like this a bit because it causes so much vibrations shaking my whole body. Luckily we do not have to go far anymore: Butch Cassidy’s hideout is our stop for today! My boss has plenty of time to watch the women soccer Olympics final, catch up with her blog (no internet yesterday!) and probably go for another run later in the afternoon. According to the news of Utah: this is a very hot summer with more days above the triple digits. My boss doesn’t think the heat (100°F) is too bad while cycling (there is this breeze while on the move). Go USA – just over the goal! Yeah… they have won!
